GalleryServer Website Detailed Description: (If you’d prefer to see an example on-line rather than reading this description, go to DiscoveryGalleries.com to see a good example of GalleryServer in action.) |
- Available on every page - Menu for navigating entire site, logo, contact information (Logo design is available, but it is not included).
- Splash Page - One main image (picture of gallery, samples of artwork, etc.) welcoming users to the site.
- Home Page - Each Category (original artwork, prints, pottery, jewelry, furniture, etc) has a listing of artists whose work is in that category. A default image is used for each artist. This could be a piece (or multiple pieces) of art that is representative of the artist’s work, a photo of the artist, or text.
- Artist’s Gallery - By clicking on an artist's link, the user is taken to the artist's virtual gallery, which has icons representing each piece of art an artist has displayed. The user can click on any of these icons to be taken to the next section.
- Artist’s Slide Show - Each piece is displayed one-by-one in slideshow fashion along with pertinent info about the piece (Title, Price, Edition Size, Description, etc). “Next” & “Previous” buttons are provided so the user can browse, and a “Buy This Piece” link allows the user to contact the gallery concerning their interest in the piece. The contents of the form are forwarded immediately to the gallery so a staff member can contact the customer in person.
- Contact Page - An e-mail form, phone numbers, fax numbers, and e-mail addresses are provided so customers can easily get in touch with you. Directions, maps, and contact info for each physical location can be displayed.

GalleryServer Administration Website Detailed Description: To understand what is included with the Admin Site for GalleryServer, you have to understand a little bit about how this information is stored. The structure of the database we use is object oriented, which means each table in the database represents a real world object. So we have a table that stores information about artists, a table that stores information about individual pieces of art, and a table that stores information about each format of an individual piece (for example, if you sell 3 different sizes of the same print, each size would be its own format, with its own price, size, etc.). This is getting way too nerdy. Here’s what you get: |
- An Add Artist page
- An Add Image page
- An Add Formats page
- An Add Format Type page (a format type is like ‘Oil on Canvas’ or ‘Hand Blown Glass’)
- An Edit/Delete Artist page
- An Edit/Delete Image page
- An Edit/Delete Formats page
- An Edit/Delete Format Type
- A View Stats Page

GalleryServer Database Setup and Hosting: We will create and host a dedicated database to store all of your gallery's information. |

What about e-commerce?: In the years that we’ve been doing this, we’ve found that most galleries really want to talk to their customers in person. E-Commerce doesn’t allow for this. If you think it would be appropriate for your web site, however, we’d be happy to set it up for you. Give us a call so we can discuss it. |
What about security?: The administrative interface is password protected, and in some cases (depending on type of internet access being used), available to only certain computers. The servers are stored behind a firewall and in a secure building. They are backed up to tape on a regular basis. |
